Corporate Morons...
(September 10, 2001)
As
a personal disclaimer here, I actually own stock in
FoMoCo. Sadly, when I attempt to contact investor relations
to ask them why the sue everyone they fairly roundly
ignore me. Given, I don't have thousands of shares,
but I still have bought in, so I deserve a response
as much as the wealthy guy down the street. As such,
I think it is in my best interest to try and grab my
company by the, well you know, and force a response.
How
do you spell ridiculous amounts of litigation and a
company run by morons?
F-O-R-D
Geez....
what can these jokers be thinking? Rather than invest
money into R&D and creating a better auto to help
out their car line (They seem solid in the truck and
SUV models for now....) these asses continue their lawsuits
against tech savvy consumers and Internet entrepreneurs
throughout the world.
Ford
has recently filed suit again. This time the offender
is 2600.com and its publisher Eric Corley. The alleged
offense this time: registering an unflattering domain
and pointing it at Ford.com.
So
what did Ford do?
Send
a letter asking the link to be removed? Nope.
Maybe a call to ask the same? Nope.
Well
at least a simple cease-and-desist letter, right? No
way..... This is FORD people.... they like to sue everyone........
So
they did. They filed suit in Dearborn, Michigan and
hauled 2600.com into court.
Regardless
of the outcome of the case Ford needs to pop its head
from its rear and start worrying about cars and leave
the Internet alone. They sued Hans Rekestad who created
a site named classicvolvos.com to sell collectors cars
and parts online. They sued several folks who posted
sites like jaguarcenter.com (about cats) and jaguarenthusiastsclub.com
(more cats) who created sites with absolutely nothing
to do with Ford. Many of the sites just gave up their
pages rather than fight a conglomerate with unlimited
funds.
So
for today my big FU goes out to the Ford Motor Company
and the idiots who run it. Maybe they can sue me next.
