Big is always Better in the US (June 27, 2000)

Or so it seems. Why is it that Americans are perpetually fascinated with accumulating the largest of everything?

We must have the tallest building, the biggest bridge, the largest national debt, and on and on...

Lately this fad has found its way into the auto industry. Instead of becoming socially responsible creatures and buying small fuel efficient autos, we have feasted on larger and larger behemoth trucks that are about as economical as dot coms are profitable.

So why is it America? Entering a new millenium and we appear to be in reverse when it comes to responsibility but full speed ahead when it comes to our own wants...
