Jonko Project Early Bronco:

The Jonko Project Early Bronco Outline
Before undertaking a restoration it is best to define your goals and determine what it is you hope to accomplish. Building a great looking truck to cruise the streets or beach yields a substantially different truck than if your goal is to be able to climb the steepest incline or run 10 second quarters. In that vein, here I will attempt to define the goals of the Jonko Early Bronco Team and to outline what we hope to develop in the next year as we proceed with the rebuild of our ultimate bronco.

Unlike our quick and dirty resto, the Jonko Project Bronco will use more top of the line parts and components and will be built to a higher specification. Our goal with this bronco is to develop a great looking truck that will function as a daily driver for the Jonko.com staff, but also a truck that is more than capable of heading off-road and hitting the trails without missing a beat. Accordingly, we will be investing heavily in amenities for the truck that you might choose to skip on your own rig (stereo, carpeting, etc...) but we will also buy the best we can afford under the hood and throughout the drivetrain. We will modify the suspension and upgrade many standard components but we will likely not go as far as someone who was building a rig for off-road use only. We will detail our choices and reasoning along the way and recommend alternates for those who may be building a truck for a different purpose.

So with all that said, here is our outline for the process ahead. (Note we have included two versions -- one an unlimited budget version and the other is our compromise version. We will likely dabble with both and as our budget becomes more clear, and we actually get into building the rig we will have a much better approximation of our actual outline.)
